Community Involvement

Community InvolvementOne of the reasons why the doctors and staff of Bethany Animal Hospital enjoy the practice of veterinary medicine is the opportunity to work with the people and pets of DeKalb County and surrounding communities. We all live in this area and take great pride in the work we do and understand that without the support of our friends and neighbors we would not have been able to succeed over these many years.

This is why we also enjoy giving back and doing our part to sustain and strengthen our community. We are proud of our work with the TAILS Humane Society where we provide free initial exams after a pet has been adopted and support their annual fundraising efforts. We also work with the DeKalb Animal Shelter by providing a free exam when a pet is adopted and offering discounted spays and neuters for those pets.

Bethany Animal Hospital also plays an important role in supporting the fundraising efforts of a number of local churches, schools, and nonprofit organizations by donating free vaccines and blood testing for their silent auctions. We are also very active in the American Cancer Society and the Relay-for-Life cancer walk of DeKalb County and have raised more than $40,000 over the past several years.

We also enjoy sharing our veterinary knowledge and understanding of animals with our community, By way of example, one of our doctors judges 4-H events each year and another teaches Pet First Aid to a number of community organizations.

In all, we are very proud of our financial and volunteer efforts to support organizations that are important to maintaining Sycamore as such a wonderful place to live and work.
